"Why a new electoral law? To avoid a draw. We have no certainty of winning the elections, we certainly want to win them, and yet we want this electoral law that allows whoever has one more vote to win and govern." This was stated by Senate President Ignazio La Russa, speaking from the stage at the Anie public assembly. "If you are so strong, don't complain about this law, or else you are not so strong and you want to act like the football teams of the old days," he added, "who always preferred a draw to a defeat." "The left, which always seeks to govern, wants a draw in order to govern without winning; we are at ease and we want to win and govern the future," he concluded, "but if it happens that we end up in opposition, we've been there before and it wasn't so bad either."
