Two more Italian medals arrive

(five in total in the first three days) at the Fencing World Championships currently underway in Hong Kong. On the day that closes the individual competition programme, Martina Favaretto and Arianna Errigo have reached the semi-finals in women's foil. A podium finish is certain for both.

For the 24-year-old from Veneto, it will be her sixth world medal in her career (her third individual one), while for the champion from Brianza, still on the podium at 38 years of age (a full 17 years since her first time in Antalya 2009), it is her 24th medal at a World Championship (11th individual). Just outside the podium, two more Italian athletes: Martina Batini finished fifth, beaten by Poloziuk, and Anna Cristino sixth, defeated in the Italian derby by Errigo.
