TUNIS, October 8. /TASS/. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called his participation in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit an opportunity to expand ties with neighboring countries.

"For us, this is an excellent opportunity to deepen and expand our ties with our neighbors," the president said before departing for Turkmenistan. According to his remarks quoted by Nour News, "the relevant ministers are already there and are holding talks within the framework of the joint commission."

On October 6, Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov said that, for the first time in the history of the CIS, Iran’s president had been invited to attend an expanded meeting of the summit and would subsequently also take part in the environmental summit.
