A campaign "dedicated to people who attend large events, concerts, both outdoors and indoors. We have all been touched by a tragedy like Crans-Montana and we are obviously mindful that those who organise and manage these events must ensure all protections are in place. Our primary concern is obviously to guarantee the safety of anyone who participates" and with this spot "we also encourage a form of self-protection for those attending an event, which is to always check where the emergency exits are on these occasions." The Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council with responsibility for Information and Publishing, Alberto Barachini, launched the institutional communication campaign "Follow me, you can save yourself" produced and distributed by the Department for Information and Publishing of the Presidency of the Council, on the initiative of the Department of the Fire Brigade, Public Rescue and Civil Defence of the Ministry of the Interior, to raise awareness among the population and young people in particular about safety in public places.

The first spot, airing from today, indicates the most appropriate behaviours to adopt in crowded public places: identifying emergency exits, which must always be kept clear, and in case of danger, moving away while using a mobile phone primarily to call emergency services, 112 (the single emergency number) or 115 (the national Fire Brigade emergency number in Italy).

Distribution is planned across several flights on RAI television and radio, the first of which will air this summer with over 70 broadcasts on TV and radio during a period particularly packed with well-attended events. It will also be published on Meta social media in collaboration between the Department and the Fire Brigade. "I also extend an appeal to those who manage public venues, from SIAE to Assoconcerti," Barachini added, "to the many young people for whom it is essential, before giving way to enjoyment, to never lose sight of the emergency exits, and to singers who have a massive following at their live shows. Singers like Ultimo, whom we ask to always remind their fans to immediately locate the safety exits before fully enjoying a concert."

"The goal," underlined the Undersecretary of the Interior, Emanuele Prisco, "is to raise awareness among everyone, and in particular among the youngest, with a message of responsible enjoyment in order to build a culture of safety. A commitment made all the more urgent by the painful memory of the tragedies that have struck our community in recent months, above all the dramatic events of Crans-Montana. Through this campaign, the Ministry of the Interior and the Department of the Fire Brigade bring to bear a precious wealth of expertise to prevent risks in crowded environments as well as in the face of natural emergencies. 'Follow me, you can save yourself' is the slogan and the invitation to trust the advice of those who defend citizens' lives every day, so that people can enjoy themselves safely with a little attention and care for themselves and their friends."
