MOSCOW, October 15. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is expected to hold a series of meetings on the sidelines of the Seventh Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"The minister will hold numerous meetings, as usually happens on the sidelines of multilateral events," she noted, commenting on media reports about Lavrov’s possible meeting with top Turkish diplomat Hakan Fidan.

On Wednesday, Lavrov arrived in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku to take part in the CICA summit. He has already held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The parties reaffirmed the two countries’ similar or converging positions on international issues and expressed hope that a planned meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of an informal Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen would give the two leaders an opportunity to exchange views.
