Before being killed in an attempted rape, student sent audio messages complaining about constant visits from a "boy"

Before suffering an attempted rape and being stabbed to death, university student Thaissa Gabriely de Oliveira Marques, 21, from Londrina (PR), sent audio messages to a friend in which she described her discomfort over the constant visits of a "boy" to the gym where she worked and which had yet to open.

The audio messages were sent days before she was murdered on September 11 in the gym's parking lot.

The investigation by the Paraná Civil Police indicates that the person she referred to in the messages was Gabriel de Andrade, 21, who is currently in custody as the suspect in the crime.

The reporter attempted to contact lawyer Rafaela Vainer, responsible for Gabriel's defense, via WhatsApp message at 6 p.m. on Thursday (17), but received no response.

The existence of the audio messages was revealed by the G1 news portal on Thursday (17). The Civil Police confirmed to Folha that the files are included in the case inquiry records.

"The evidence obtained so far allows us to identify the person referred to in them [in the audio messages] as the same individual who was arrested for the femicide," the Civil Police said in a statement.

In the audio messages, the university student tells a friend that the boy had already visited the gym several times, claiming he wanted to learn about the facility and also to inquire about job openings.

Police suspect the crime was premeditated, as the suspect was familiar with the location and had previously made contact with people at the gym. Investigations are ongoing at the Women's Police Station.

The student died after being stabbed while resisting an attempted rape in the gym's parking lot. The man approached the victim while she was distributing flyers on the street with information about the establishment's operations.

After the crime, the suspect fled, but was later apprehended by officers.

Initially, he claimed to have been the victim of a robbery. After Thaissa's body was found, he confessed to the crime and was arrested in the act, according to the Military Police.

Thaissa studied nutrition at UniFil (Filadélfia University Center). In a statement, the institution said she "will be missed and will be fondly remembered by all those who had the opportunity to share in her academic journey and her presence in our community."
