A violent head-on collision on Route 12 leaves three dead: two of the victims were from Entre Ríos and one from Corrientes

A fatal road accident that occurred on Thursday afternoon on National Route 12 claimed the lives of three people. The head-on collision involved two cars and took place between the Corrientes province towns of Villa Olivari and Ituzaingó.

The accident occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m., near kilometer marker 1,225. A Chevrolet Meriva and a Chevrolet Cruze collided at the scene. The reasons that led the vehicles to crash head-on are still unclear.

The Chevrolet Meriva was carrying only Rafael Domínguez, 78 years old, a native of Berón de Astrada, Corrientes. The other vehicle involved, the Chevrolet Cruze, was being driven by Diego Almada, 46, who was accompanied by Milagros Agustina Marioni, 26 years old.

Both were from the province of Entre Ríos. The man resided in Cerrito and the young woman in Hernandarias. As a result of the violent impact, all three victims died on the spot.

According to reports published by the outlet El Litoral, after receiving the alert, officers from the Villa Olivari District Police Station quickly arrived at the scene to carry out the initial procedures and forensic examinations. There are still no indications of what occurred.

Personnel from the Forest Fire Brigade (BRIF) and volunteer firefighter units from the towns of Ituzaingó and Villa Olivari worked at the scene.

"A part of my heart left with you": heartfelt messages from the victims' families

Upon learning of the deaths of the Entre Ríos residents, their family members and friends posted several farewell messages on social media.

Marioni's sister left a heartfelt and lengthy message on her social media: "Today I must say goodbye to you, and I still cannot understand how I am supposed to do it. I feel that a part of my heart left with you and that nothing will ever be the same again."

She then added: "Thank you for being my sister, for every moment we shared, and for leaving a mark that no one will ever be able to erase," and concluded: "I love you today, tomorrow, and for all eternity. Until we meet again someday."

Meanwhile, another young man, related to Marioni and a friend of Almada, also used social media to bid farewell to both of them.

"Fly high, friend, I'll hold onto all the good times we shared," the young man posted, closing with: "Thank you for the advice, I love you, friend Diego."
