"I have esteem for both...". This is how Angelo Bonelli, the leader of Avs, responded on the radio show Un Giorno da Pecora when asked who he would vote for in the broad coalition primaries if only Elly Schlein and Giuseppe Conte were to run. When asked whether, in his opinion, a third candidate would be preferable to the leaders of the PD and M5S, he replied: "When I said it would be appropriate not to hold primaries, it means finding a third figure" through "a political agreement. After that, it is not possible" because "both Schlein and Conte have said they are moving in that direction."
