Seven years, six seasons and a character that changed her forever. Lily Collins bids farewell to Emily Cooper, the protagonist of the beloved series Emily in Paris, which will conclude on Netflix on December 24, with a lengthy and widely acclaimed post on social media. "My last day on set as Emily… I'm speechless. It's impossible to find the words to describe what this journey has meant to me," writes the actress who plays the young American woman through her adventures in the Ville Lumière, and for several episodes in Rome as well, sparking paternal jealousies even between President Emmanuel Macron and Rome's mayor Roberto Gualtieri.
"For so many years, Emily," the actress continues, "has been part of my life and, in every season, she has continued to surprise me, inspire me and challenge me." She then addresses the director: "Thank you, Darren Star, for creating this endlessly optimistic American girl in Paris, who constantly finds herself outside her comfort zone, learning to trust herself and lean on others as she navigates her new life. I am so grateful that you believed in me and allowed me to bring her to life." Collins then thanks the "unparalleled" crew, the writers, directors and "the incredible cast" made up of Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie, Lucien Laviscount, Minnie Driver and Paul Forman. "By now," she admits, "you have become family and without you I couldn't imagine any of this. You made Emily, Emily. You made this world feel like home. And thank you to all of you who have supported us over these 7 years and 6 seasons, inspiring us to dream big during our epic adventure."
"I will carry this chapter with me forever. Saying goodbye is a surreal and bittersweet experience, but above all, I feel an immense sense of pride and gratitude for having been her. And for having been part of something so joyful. This experience has changed me forever."
