BreakingTrump says he’s open to Xi, Putin meeting in China for nuclear talks
US president says he would welcome three-way talks on nuclear weapons, but no date or format has been agreed for the proposed meeting
US President Donald Trump said on Monday he was open to a three-way meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to China next month, with nuclear weapons on the agenda.
“We would have it to talk about nuclear weapons and denuclearisation,” Trump told reporters outside the White House before travelling to Kansas. “If President Xi wants to have it, I’d have it.”
His comments came after the Kremlin said the three leaders could meet on the sidelines of next month’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in China and that a potential meeting had come up in talks.
