The 23rd edition of the Magna Graecia Film Festival in Soverato gets underway on Saturday, July 25. Many guests are expected at the event, which will conclude on August 1. Among those set to meet the audience at the seafront arena are Kevin Spacey, Can Yaman, Valeria Golino, Marco D'Amore, and Roberto Vecchioni, along with a special tribute to the memory of Ettore Scola.
The event, conceived and directed by Gianvito Casadonte, has established itself over the years as a cultural showcase that, through cinema, opens up discussion on other areas of interest such as sport, health, justice, books, food and wine, and innovation. The festival also represents an important opportunity to shine national and international attention on Calabria, highlighting its excellence, its potential, and its ability to attract productions, talent, and investment.
"The festival," Casadonte explains, "also confirms itself as an effective territorial marketing tool, capable of promoting the image of Calabria through culture, cinema, and dialogue between leading figures from the world of entertainment, institutions, business, and civil society." The Magna Graecia Film Festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture; by Calabria Straordinaria, the brand of the Calabria Region's Department of Tourism; by the Calabria Film Commission; and by the Municipality of Soverato.
