MUMBAI: Actor Tiger Shroff was seen with a bandage on his right arm and dressings on his chest while meeting Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde at his residence on Sunday night, hours after gunmen opened fire at his car in Mumbai’s Juhu area.

Shinde, who visited the actor to enquire about his well-being, said Shroff sustained injuries to his hand from gunpowder and shards of glass. The actor escaped gunshot injuries, with initial reports describing his injuries as minor abrasions caused by fragments of the shattered car glass.

“Five rounds were fired, but fortunately, he was safe. His driver sustained injuries, and the incident is condemnable,” Shinde said, assuring the family of the state government’s support.

The firing took place around 7pm on Sunday as Shroff was leaving a birthday party at Pushpa Narsee Park, also known as Jamnabai Nursery, in Juhu. Unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire at his car, injuring his driver, Firdaus, and a passerby.

Firdaus sustained a bullet injury to his left hand and was taken to Nanavati Hospital for treatment. The passerby, identified as 35-year-old Umesh Charan, suffered a bullet injury to the chest and was admitted to Cooper Hospital.

Police have formed 15 teams to track down the assailants and are examining CCTV footage to identify them and establish their escape route. A social media post purportedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack, though police are verifying its authenticity.
