A mare died this Saturday (19), one day after being rescued from a location where she remained buried and covered in mud for approximately 24 hours, in Itapevi, in Greater São Paulo.
The animal was located on Thursday afternoon (17), following an alert made through the office of city councillor Marina Dornellas. The rescue took place on Friday (18) and lasted approximately five hours.
The operation involved teams from the Fire Department, the Civil Defence of Itapevi, the Municipal Canine Unit, veterinarians and volunteers from the Animal Disaster Response Group (Grad), from Jundiaí and Várzea Paulista.
Images show the mare partially buried, her body covered in dirt and mud with only part of her head exposed.
After being removed from the location, she received medication and hydration and underwent examinations. The initial procedures indicated that the animal was in good condition and out of danger. The mare, however, died this Saturday (19).
No information was released about how the mare became trapped at the location, nor regarding the identification of the animal's owner.
