"Another promise kept: we have brought sailing to the outskirts too. This day gave the 350 boys and girls of the Sport Illumina Camp in Caivano the chance to try getting on a sailboat in a swimming pool, one of the many initiatives we are putting in place to introduce and showcase this wonderful discipline. A different way of preparing for the wonderful appointment with the America's Cup." This is what the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, said, commenting on this morning's initiative in Caivano (Naples), where 350 children had the opportunity to approach sailing in the swimming pool of the "Pino Daniele" sports centre, transformed for the occasion into a regatta course. "Sailing, in all its categories, teaches respect for nature and the sea, a sense of responsibility, the ability to read change and make balanced decisions, combining technology and tradition, team spirit and individual skills — values that fully belong to the culture of sport and that can also serve as an important reference in everyday life," Abodi added.
