Mumbai: A fire broke out in a 13th-floor flat of the ground-plus-20-storey OSK Heritage building on Subhash Lane in Kandivli West on Wednesday night. No injuries were reported.

Mumbai Fire Brigade received the fire call at 9.14pm and declared it a Level I fire at 9:18 pm. Firefighters, police, PWD ward staff, Adani staff, and a ‘108’ ambulance were mobilised to the spot.

As the flames spread within the flat, some residents rushed out of the building, while others moved to the terrace; they were later brought to safety by firefighters.

Two firemen entered the affected flat and tried to control the blaze. “No one was inside the flat. The occupants may have managed to escape before we arrived,” a fire official said.

Another fire official said, “The blaze was confined to electrical wiring and installations, PoP, wooden furniture, household articles, doors and windows in flat number 1304 on the 13th floor, covering around 600 sq ft. The flames also spread to clothes and a window of flat number 1404 on the 14th floor, covering around 50 sq ft. Cooling operations are currently underway.

The building’s power supply was disconnected as a precaution. Residents later gathered and discussed the extent of damage with fire brigade officials.
