LONDON, September 23. /TASS/. Three commodity vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, down from four in the previous day, according to preliminary shipping data, Reuters reported, citing shiptracker Kpler.
All three vessels, including one Panamax tanker, were exiting the strait.
Before the US-Iran conflict started on February 28, around 125 large commercial vessels passed through the strait every day, including bulk carriers, container ships, crude and gas tankers, carrying roughly one fifth of the world’s daily oil and liquefied natural gas supplies.
Meanwhile, 22 commodity vessels transited the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a trade route between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, on Tuesday, the agency added. Fourteen vessels headed towards the Red Sea and eight towards the Gulf of Aden. They included five Panamax tankers, six Supramax vessels, four Aframax tankers, one Suezmax tanker, and one very large crude carrier (VLCC).
The number compared with an average of around 26 ships using the strait in the past 10 days.
