SPD parliamentary group leader Raed Saleh will not run again. Raed Saleh, the leader of the SPD parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives, announced on Tuesday afternoon that he will not seek re-election to the position.
Following the poor showing in the Berlin election, calls for personnel consequences within the SPD had grown louder. The party's largest local association in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf passed a resolution on Monday evening demanding a personnel reshuffle at the top of the parliamentary group. Raed Saleh had held the position of SPD parliamentary group leader since 2011.
