The legislative assembly of Emilia-Romagna has approved a regional law governing the procedures for access to medically assisted suicide, in implementation of the Constitutional Court's rulings. The measure, supported by the centre-left majority and contested by the opposition, defines the timelines and methods for verifying the requirements and carrying out the procedure within the region, pending national legislation. It is the third region in Italy, after Tuscany and Sardinia, to adopt a law defining the timelines and procedures for medical assistance in voluntary death.
