The August pension, which will arrive on the first of the month for Post Office account holders and on the 3rd for bank account holders, will include the tax adjustment relating to the 730/2026 model for pensioners who have designated INPS as their tax withholding agent. Based on data transmitted by the Revenue Agency by June 30, the pay slip may therefore show either a refund of amounts due to taxpayers with a credit, or deductions owed in the case of a tax debt. This is clarified by INPS in a statement, explaining that in order to make consultation more immediate, the Institute has revised the presentation of adjustments on the pay slip, introducing simpler descriptions and more clearly distinguishing amounts refunded from those withheld.
The August pay slip also concerns pensioners receiving income-linked benefits who have not yet regularised their income position for 2022. In these cases, a deduction equal to 5% of the gross pension amount paid in July will be applied, which will also be repeated on the September instalment. The pensioners concerned, who have already been reached by a reminder notice, have until September 15, 2026 to submit the required income declaration through an income reconstitution application. After September 15, income-linked benefits relating to 2022 will be permanently revoked and the Institute will proceed to recover any amounts that may have been paid without entitlement. Civil invalidity benefits, social allowances and social pensions are excluded from this procedure.
INPS notes in the statement that numerous social security and welfare benefits — including the supplementation to the minimum treatment, social increments, the fourteenth-month payment and certain survivors' pensions — "are subject to verification of the beneficiary's income and, in applicable cases, that of the spouse or family members. Verification is carried out primarily using information already available from the Revenue Agency; only when such data is insufficient is it necessary to submit a specific income declaration to the Institute, either directly through the Pre-compiled Red service or with the support of tax assistance centres (CAF) and affiliated bodies." INPS "therefore invites those concerned to consult their pay slip and the communications they have received, verify their own position and promptly attend to any required obligations."
