It will be the worldview of women that guides the sixth edition of 'Eternity Is Now', a contemporary art exhibition bringing together large-scale installations by artists from the Middle East and beyond, among the pyramids of Giza, scheduled from 4 to 28 November.
The exhibition will host works by French, American, Chinese, Anglo-Jamaican and Egyptian artists in a dialogue with the majestic historical presence of the plateau. While previous editions explored the continuity of rituals, memory and narratives of the past, this sixth edition of 'Eternity Is Now' focuses on the pyramids themselves as instruments of reflection: from their geometric precision and astronomical alignment to their subtle suggestion that order and wonder have never been incompatible.
Through site-specific installations and newly commissioned large-scale works, the participating artists explore themes of continuity, spatial order and cultural memory, questioning the significance of constructing a building whose lasting legacy transcends the hand that built it.
The spirit of the initiative remains intact, aimed at presenting a selection of contemporary artists from Egypt and around the world with the intent of blending the rich heritage of Egyptian civilisation with the spirit of contemporary art, while strengthening Egypt's presence on the international artistic and cultural scene.
Under the aegis of Art of Egypt, the Pyramids of Giza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back approximately 4,500 years, and the surrounding plateau have become home to the first and largest contemporary art exhibition of its kind ever organised, transforming an archaeological monument into a dynamic platform for international cultural exchange.
The Art of Egypt Foundation has been dedicated since 2019 to raising awareness of and promoting Egyptian art, including through fairs such as Abu Dhabi Art and ArtGenève, and by organising exhibitions both within the country and abroad.
