The last Sunday of July with rain and then the return of heat, expected in the coming week with the return of the African anticyclone. This is indicated by the forecasts of Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist and media manager at iLMeteo.it.

For Saturday, generally good weather is expected, with higher temperatures only in Sardinia and Sicily. From the afternoon, due to the approach of an Atlantic weather system, rain is expected over Valle d'Aosta and Piedmont, and in the evening also over Lombardy, Liguria and Upper Tuscany.

For Sunday, a deterioration is forecast and "meteorological models — the statement reads — identify an area of maximum alert" along the coasts of the Eastern Ligurian Riviera, Tuscany and Lazio. Instability is expected over the Po Valley and the Alps and, from the afternoon, as far as Campania. Still hot in the South.

From July 29, the statement continues, the return of the African anticyclone is expected, in what could be the fourth heatwave of the summer of 2026.

In detail:

Saturday 25: in the North, deterioration over the North-West from the afternoon-evening; in the Centre, sunny, with deterioration in the evening over Tuscany; in the South, sunny and hot.

Sunday 26: in the North, a weather disturbance with thunderstorms moving from west to east; in the Centre, locally very strong thunderstorms with hail; in the South, sunny, except for showers in Campania.
