MEP Ilaria Salis of AVS has been ordered to pay just over 300,000 euros in damages to two former collaborators whose contracts she terminated early without just cause in 2025. The decision was made by Judge Franco Caroleo of the Milan Labour Tribunal, following an appeal by the two former assistants, represented by lawyers Francesca Verdura, Tiziana Laratta and Sergio Romanotto.
The ruling, filed on 10 March, was also published, without references, in a legal journal. According to the judge, the burden of proving just cause should have fallen on Salis, as the employer, but the MEP was "in default" in the proceedings and "clearly failed to fulfil her burden." The Tribunal therefore reaffirmed "the absence of just cause in the challenged terminations."
