MUMBAI: Mumbai Police on Wednesday arrested two more accused, Sameer and Jatin, in connection with the firing incident linked to actor Tiger Shroff.

Sameer, from Haryana, allegedly introduced Rehan Ansari to Anil Pandit, an alleged Lawrence Bishnoi gang associate.

Earlier, three other accused, i.e., Rehan Ansari, Phoolsingh and Rithik Mahtoo alias Roshan, were remanded to police custody till October 31 by the 37th Metropolitan Magistrate Court on October 21.

The prosecution told the court that the weapons used in the crime were yet to be recovered and that the accused had allegedly destroyed the mobile phones used in the offence. Police sought further custody to investigate the wider conspiracy, financial transactions and disposal of the phones.

Opposing further custody, advocate Ajinkya Mirgal, appearing for Ansari, argued that police had already secured the accused from Kota on transit remand. He sought their remand to magisterial custody.

The prosecution also informed the court that five more people arrested in Delhi and Haryana were being brought to Mumbai.

According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, the shooters initially planned to target Salman Khan but allegedly shifted their focus to Shroff after finding that the other celebrity had tight security.

The firing took place around 7pm on Sunday in Juhu, when Shroff was leaving a football club. The actor escaped unhurt, while his driver sustained injuries.
