The Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Berlin has been brought to a premature end. "A vehicle allegedly drove into the Tiergarten," the Berlin police announced on the platform X. Several people were injured and were being treated by emergency responders.
Police were conducting an intensive manhunt for suspected perpetrators and were deployed with numerous police and emergency fire service units, it was said. They called on people to avoid the area and take wide detours.
Earlier, hundreds of thousands of people had taken part in the Christopher Street Day in Berlin under the motto "Attitude is hot." The annually organized CSD rallies commemorate June 28, 1969, when police raided the gay bar "Stonewall Inn" in New York. Days of clashes with activists followed, which are considered the birth of the modern gay and lesbian movement.
