SIMFEROPOL, October 29. /TASS/. Newsmax representative Luke Kjeldsen, who arrived in Russia as part of a humanitarian mission to Alyoshki in the Kherson Region, stressed the importance of ensuring that residents receive care and everything they need.

"Well, I think we're going to find a lot of that out tomorrow. <...> But we're looking to monitor that, document it, and report the story that we see," Kjeldsen told TASS.

"Well, we're here to talk about Alyoshki, and I realize Alyoshki is part of the Kherson [Region]. But I think what everybody wants is some peace for these civilians who are living in that area right now, in Alyoshki," he said, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that "these people can be taken care of."

A humanitarian mission to support civilians is underway in the frontline town of Alyoshki. A temporary ceasefire in the Kherson sector runs from 4 a.m. Moscow time (1 a.m. GMT) on October 27 to 10:59 p.m. (7:59 p.m. GMT) on November 1, 2026. The main aid deliveries are scheduled for October 29-30.

Voluntary evacuation will be available to anyone wishing to leave. Those who remain will receive food, medicine and other essentials.

Preparations for the mission began in May 2026 with assistance from Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova and Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets, and mediation by US First Lady Melania Trump. Representatives of international media outlets arrived in the town as part of a delegation.
