There is a detention in connection with the murder of Simone Concas, the 19-year-old stabbed to death yesterday afternoon on a street in Bari Sardo, at the culmination of a dispute that arose after the victim had run over a girl with his car — a 22-year-old resident of a nearby town who was known to the victim.

During the night, the Carabinieri of the Lanusei Company and the Nuoro Provincial Command detained a minor, the brother of the girl who was run over: he is suspected of murder.

According to findings by the military police, still under investigation, at around 6 p.m. yesterday Simone Concas, driving his Renault Clio, allegedly deliberately ran over the girl — a university student living in a nearby town — while she was walking near the sports ground in Bari Sardo with her boyfriend. Concas and the girl had known each other for some time.

The girl was pinned between the car and a rocky wall; after being treated by emergency services, she sustained serious leg injuries and is currently hospitalised at the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari.

The driver then fled, pursued by the boyfriend and the younger brother of the 22-year-old. The two allegedly caught up with him in Via Leonardo Da Vinci and stabbed him to death, before fleeing.

During the night, the Carabinieri, coordinated by Lanusei prosecutor Paola Dal Monte and the Cagliari Prosecutor's Office, questioned the two young men at the barracks and detained the minor, the brother of the student who was run over.

The young man, under investigation for murder, will be transferred in the morning to the juvenile detention facility in Quartucciu.
