Savina Neirotti is the new president of the Fondazione Unione Musicale di Torino. She was elected unanimously by the board of directors, chosen to succeed Angelo Benessia, who recently passed away.
Neirotti, born in 1971, has for over twenty years conceived, developed and directed high-level training programmes dedicated to authors, directors, producers and artists, promoting professional growth pathways and collaboration networks with an international scope.
A graduate in Philosophy, she completed the first year of the Master's in Aesthetics at the University of Pennsylvania. She began her professional career at the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, where from 1995 to 2001 she served as head of the press office, also handling the Orchestra's educational activities. She conceived and directed the TorinoFilmLab for the National Museum of Cinema, today recognised as one of the leading international programmes for the development of screenplays and film projects. Her connection with the Unione Musicale dates back to the second half of the 1990s: from 1995 to 1999 she collaborated with the publication I Concerti dell'Unione Musicale and, from 1999 to 2002, with Sistema Musica, closely following Turin's concert seasons and the city's musical life.
"I accepted this role," Neirotti states, "because I recognise in this institution an idea of culture that I feel is deeply my own: a place where artists and audiences meet through music and where research, dialogue and sharing nurture curiosity, knowledge and a sense of community. I begin this journey with enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility: to preserve an important history and to contribute, together, to writing its next chapters."
