In August 2026, total loans to businesses and households grew by 3.4% year-on-year, accelerating compared to the change recorded the previous month (+3.3%), continuing the loan growth path that began in March 2025 and returned to October 2022 levels. This is what emerges from the ABI monthly report. For households, it is the twentieth consecutive month of increase, and for businesses, the fourteenth. The average rate on total loans (i.e., those taken out over the years) was 4.19% (+0.02% compared to the previous month); the average rate on new transactions for home purchases increased to 3.56% (+0.16% compared to the previous month); the average rate on new business financing transactions decreased to 3.66% (-0.13% compared to the previous month).
