"The worsening of the international situation and the continuous rise in energy costs are seriously affecting businesses and eroding consumer confidence. We must prevent these increases from falling entirely on bills, through immediate measures and structural interventions, starting with tax incentives for energy efficiency and a further intervention on system charges." This was stated by the president of Confcom, Carlo Sangalli, regarding the analysis on high energy costs presented today by the Confederation.
At the same time, Sangalli added, "we need to accelerate the development of renewables and sustainable nuclear energy, reduce dependence on gas, strengthen grids and storage systems, and reform the electricity price formation mechanism. It is also important to encourage the spread among businesses of aggregate energy purchasing contracts, in order to guarantee advantageous and stable prices in the long term. But we must act immediately, otherwise we will face a new inflationary season that will drastically reduce consumption and the country's growth."
