A 19-year-old with no prior criminal record is under serious suspicion for the attempted murder of a 58-year-old man of Ukrainian origin, which occurred on the night of 30 August last in the gardens of Molosiglio in the Chiaia district of Naples. The Carabinieri of the operational unit of the Naples Centro company have served him with a precautionary measure ordering house arrest with an electronic tag, issued by the investigating judge of the Naples Tribunal at the request of the local Prosecutor's Office.
The extensive investigative activity carried out by the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Naples Prosecutor's Office — conducted through witness interviews and the analysis of footage from surveillance camera systems — has established that the victim, who had intervened to break up a fight among young people, was struck by a slash inflicted by the 19-year-old.
The young man was together with other peers his own age. He allegedly threw — the Carabinieri report — several glass bottles at the victim and his group of friends. Without any apparent motive. Among the insults was also the phrase "go back to your own country."
