Two Albanian nationals aged 44 and 29, residing in Mirano and Jesolo (Venice), were arrested this morning by the Carabinieri of the Mestre (Venice) Company for the attempted murder of a man who was wounded by gunshots on the first of July in the Venice area.
The orders issued by the Venice Investigating Judge were carried out with the assistance of the Investigative Unit of the Venice Carabinieri and a canine unit from the Carabinieri of Torreglia (Padua). The charges include attempted murder and unlawful possession of a common firearm.
The investigation was launched after the man was attacked near his home and shot between the shoulder and neck. The Carabinieri found in the homes and cars of the two suspects some ammunition of the same calibre as the bullet fired, as well as material linked to drug dealing. The attack is believed to have stemmed from matters connected to a drug dealing network in Mirano and surrounding municipalities, from which the victim had allegedly wanted to distance himself in order to pursue a law-abiding life.
Evidence was also gathered against the two of threats dating back to last February, which had gone unheeded. On the first of July, the victim, although wounded, had managed to flee and hide in the vegetation surrounding the property.
