"We have found weapons that come from Salento but whose origin is the Balkan area, meaning the former Yugoslavia, but we are aware of mafia interest in more sophisticated weapons: those, for example, from the black market that emerged from the Russian-Ukrainian war. We have signals of purchases of mine-launching drones, weapons we are not prepared to defend ourselves against. There is therefore an attempt to rebuild a quality arsenal. This is happening both in the Palermo area and in other territories."

This was stated by Palermo prosecutor Maurizio de Lucia during a hearing before the national Anti-Mafia commission.
