MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. A transport collapse has hit the Ukrainian capital of Kiev, with major jams caused by damage to bridges across the Dnieper River forming for the second consecutive day, Ukraine’s Insider media outlet reported.
According to the report, the traffic situation has forced many drivers to abandon their cars in favor of the subway, resulting in large crowds there.
In the morning, Ukraine’s Novosti.Live news outlet reported severe traffic jams on roads leading to bridges across the Dnieper. Earlier, Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko described the city’s transport situation as dramatic.
The Russian Defense Ministry said on the morning of October 2 that Russian forces had struck a road and railway bridge across the Dnieper that was part of a route used to supply Ukrainian troops in Donbass. Overnight into October 3, the Russian army struck Kiev’s Northern Bridge, which is used for troop deployment. According to media reports, other major bridges across the Dnieper - the Southern, Metro and Paton bridges - had also been closed to traffic.
