Mario Calabresi came to Pordenonelegge to present in preview 'Le voci degli altri' (Mondadori), his new book that aims to be "an encounter with those who feel transparent and forgotten," and declined to speak about his possible candidacy as mayor of Milan.
At the Teatro Verdi in Pordenone, the sold-out event was followed by a lengthy book signing. In conversation with Alberto Garlini, who at the end asked Calabresi whether he would run as mayor, he replied with a smile: "of Pordenone!"
In the book 'Le voci degli altri' - dedicated to "all those who need to be listened to. To all those who listen" - which will be available in bookshops on September 22 through Mondadori - the journalist and writer, who founded and directed the podcast company Chora Media, has gathered the stories of people who feel invisible and of those who still try to build bridges. Among them are a grandmother who has remained the only Italian in her public housing building, a woman who works to give an identity to the unnamed dead, and a man who spends his life trying to discover who killed his father. It is a journey to rediscover the empathy that no longer exists and to break down the walls of indifference.
