A large-scale fire, driven by sirocco winds, has reached the residential centre of Santo Stefano Quisquina (Agrigento). More than 100 people have already been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Canadair aircraft from the forestry service are on their way, but of particular concern are an oxygen depot, the Ignazio Attardi clinic, a fuel station and a fireworks factory. Several fire brigade teams are currently stationed around these very areas. Firefighters are also on their way from the detachments of Sciacca and Canicattì, along with reinforcements from the carabinieri and police.
