War in the Middle East: Further Nightly US Strike Wave on Iran
For nearly two weeks, the US has been carrying out nightly attacks on Iran. The US military says it once again targeted military sites in Iran during the past night. Kuwait reported Iranian bombardment.
The US military says it has again struck military targets in Iran — for the 13th consecutive night. The latest wave of strikes began at 6:45 p.m. US Eastern Time and lasted more than two hours, according to Centcom, the US command responsible for the region, which posted the information on the platform X.
The goal, it said, was to hold Iran accountable and reduce the threat posed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard to commercial shipping. US forces targeted, among other things, command centers, drone storage facilities, and coastal surveillance installations.
Shortly afterward, local media reported multiple explosions. According to the Iranian news agency Fars, citing official sources, areas near the cities of Ahvaz, Andimeshk, and Omidiyeh in Khuzestan Province were among the targets of US strikes.
There were also reports of explosions in the area of Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz as well as near the major city of Bandar Abbas.
Air Defenses Active in Kuwait
Meanwhile, Kuwait's armed forces said they once again intercepted missiles and drones launched from Iran. Any sounds of explosions were attributable to these interceptions, the military said in a statement on X.
The population was urged to follow safety and protection guidelines. The Iranian news agency Tasnim, which is close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, reported that the target had been a military base also used by the US Air Force. The claims could not be independently verified.
