Mumbai: A motorcyclist and his friend seated pillion lost their lives after the speeding two-wheeler crashed into a divider at Dahisar (E) early Saturday. Dahisar Police said the rider, Ashish Donde (37), and his friend, Eristan Nikam (39), worked at an IT services company and were returning from a restaurant and bar. Two accidental death records have been recorded.

The road crash occurred around 2.30 am on the southbound arm of the Western Express Highway. Police said a car was moving in front of the two-wheeler and Donde could not control the speed of the vehicle. The motorcycle crashed into a divider and the impact caused both of its occupants to be thrown off. They were pronounced dead at a public hospital subsequently.

Donde was a resident of Malad while Nikam lived in Kandivli. Their bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination. Police informed their families about the crash. The autopsy will show whether it was a case of driving under the influence of alcohol or not, police said.
