Mumbai: The Mumbai-Bengaluru route will get its first Vande Bharat Sleeper Express from Nov 2, with the inaugural run scheduled to be flagged off from Bengaluru on Nov 1.
The inaugural special, train number 06503, will be flagged off from Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru at 12.15 pm on Nov 1 and reach Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai at 6.15 am the following day. Regular services will commence from Nov 2, railway officials said.
According to the schedule released by Central Railway, train no. 27651 will depart from CSMT at 8.10 pm and reach SMVT Bengaluru at noon the following day. In the opposite direction, train no. 27652 will leave SMVT Bengaluru at 7.45 pm and arrive at CSMT at 11.55 am the next day.
Both services will operate six days a week. The CSMT-Bengaluru service will not run on Tuesdays, while the Bengaluru-CSMT service will remain cancelled on Mondays.
The trains will halt at Kalyan, Pune, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Guntakal and Anantapur, besides their originating and terminating stations.
Unlike Udyan Express, which departs Mumbai in the morning, the new service will leave late in the evening, allowing passengers to travel overnight to Bengaluru. The sleeper configuration is expected to benefit those travelling between the two cities for work, business and tourism, while offering an alternative to air travel.
The train, numbered 27651/27652, will have 16 coaches, comprising 11 AC three-tier coaches, four AC two-tier coaches and one AC first-class coach. Together, these will provide 823 berths.
Tickets for the 1,118-km journey are expected to cost between Rs 2,600 and Rs 4,250, depending on the class selected. Railway authorities are yet to release the final fare details.
The country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train was flagged off by
Prime Minister Modi on Jan 17, 2026, on the Howrah-Kamakhya route. The introduction of the Mumbai-Bengaluru service will extend the sleeper variant to another major intercity route, catering to passengers seeking an overnight rail connection between Maharashtra and Karnataka.
