Pippo Ricci, forward for Olimpia Milano and the Italian national basketball team, will meet with students at LUMSA University on September 22 at 6:00 PM on the occasion of the Welcome Days, the orientation program for freshmen in the Gepli and Disu departments of the Libera Università Maria Santissima Assunta.
The event, included among the Rome Future Week gatherings, will be held in the Aula Giubileo at LUMSA University. The basketball player and mathematician will engage in a dialogue with students, sharing his personal and professional journey, from experiencing bullying to falling in love with basketball, from personal challenges to triumph on the court. These are themes that Pippo Ricci also addressed in his book 'Volevo essere Robin: Il mio viaggio fino a qui' (I Wanted to Be Robin: My Journey So Far).
The meeting, also available via live streaming on the LUMSA YouTube channel, will be an engaging moment of exchange for students and an opportunity to hear from a prominent Italian athlete about how to turn difficulties into strength and teamwork into a life lesson.
The conference will open with remarks from Prof. Francesco Bonini, Rector of LUMSA University, and will feature the participation of the department directors, Professors Caterina Fiorilli (Disu) and Filippo Giordano (Gepli). The event will be moderated by Prof. Gabriella Foschini, the University's Sports Representative.
Giampaolo Ricci, known as Pippo (Rome, 1991), is a player on the Italian national basketball team and captain of Olimpia Milano, Italy's most decorated club. He plays as a power forward and stands 2 meters 02 tall. He has won 5 league titles, 3 Italian Cups and 2 Italian Super Cups. With the national team, he competed at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, two European Championships and one World Championship.
