Mumbai: The Govt Railway Police (GRP) registered separate FIRs against a female passenger and a female ticket checker after the two created a ruckus at Kandivli railway station on Friday night. A large crowd gathered at the station, prompting the deployment of the GRP as well as Railway Protection Force (RPF) to bring the situation under control. No arrest has been made.
The incident unfolded around 7.30 pm. The female passenger had boarded the train from Lower Parel station. When she got off at Kandivli station, the female ticket checker asked her to produce her ticket. She showed a season pass that had expired the previous day. The ticket checker then asked her to pay a fine of Rs 510, but the passenger refused. She requested to be let off without a fine, which the ticket checker wouldn’t agree to. This sparked a row between the two women.
The passenger tried to leave, and the ticket checker chased her. While she was catching hold of the passenger, the latter’s dress tore. The women had a scuffle and fell down. The ticket checker took her to the TC room where her senior tried to calm down the passenger, but to no avail.
In the meanwhile, a large crowd of people gathered and the police were summoned. The ticket checker apologised to the passenger for her dress. Police registered a case against the passenger for “obstructing a public servant from doing her duty”, and a separate case was lodged against the ticket checker for manhandling the passenger.
