MOSCOW, September 29. /TASS/. Shell has approved the expansion of LNG Canada,the country's first gas liquefaction project, effectively doubling its capacity to 28 million tonnes by the early 2030s, the company announced on Tuesday.
"Shell Canada Energy, an affiliate of Shell plc, today announced a final investment decision on LNG Canada Phase 2, which will double production capacity at the facility in Kitimat, British Columbia,"the corporate statement said.
The Phase 2 expansion entails the construction of two additional liquefaction trains, scaling up the facility's total output from 14 million to 28 million tonnes of LNG per annum. The new trains are slated to come online in the early 2030s.
