GENEVA, October 8. /TASS/. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from the Middle East fell by about 47% annually during the first six months of 2026, while oil deliveries from the region dropped by about 24%, the World Trade Organization (WTO) said in its global trade prospects report.

"It is estimated that exports of liquefied natural gas from the Middle East fell around 47% in the first half of this year, even though global shipments of LNG only declined minimally, by around -1%," WTO said. Consequences of the energy shock related to the shortfall in supplies from the Middle East was managed to be softened and partly compensated by growing production and deliveries of other exporters, including Malaysia, Norway, and Angola, the organization noted.

According to the report, crude oil exports from the Middle East fell about 24% annually in the first half of this year. "During the same period, other suppliers (including the United States, Norway and Brazil) increased their production and shipments of crude oil, resulting in a global decline in exports of these products of around 6%," WTO added.
