ASTRAKHAN, September 18. /TASS/. More than 570 polling stations opened in Russia’s Astrakhan Region on the first day of voting in the State Duma elections, which will run from September 18 to 20.

The Astrakhan Region election commission said that voters in the region are electing not only State Duma deputies but also deputies to the Astrakhan Region Duma.

A total of 555 permanent and 21 temporary precinct election commissions have been established in the Astrakhan Region. The temporary commissions were set up at the railway station, hospitals, offshore platforms, and vessels in the Caspian Sea.

Around 15,000 voters in the Astrakhan Region applied to use the Mobile Voter mechanism. They will be able to vote wherever they are during the election period.
