"We have decided, with the Chief of Defense Staff, not to wait for Aspides to decide whether ships can pass or not." This is what Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said while speaking at the fourth edition of the Forum Risorsa Mare in La Spezia, addressing the situation in the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb. "We will probably take action in such a way that Italian ships can begin to pass without waiting for European bureaucracy to add to our own, because delaying timelines in cases like this means delaying the economy, means worsening problems." He then added: "When we can intervene, we do so to ease crises."
