Around fifty anti-fascists are demonstrating this morning outside the NH hotel on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II in Turin, where Futuro Nazionale leader Roberto Vannacci is taking part in the conference 'Urban Insecurity: the role of institutions and entrepreneurs', organised by the Fsp police trade union.
"No general for any war, Vannacci out of Turin" is the banner displayed by the protesters. The gathering was organised by the Turin-based antagonist network linked to the Askatasuna social centre, which was cleared out last 18 December. The area is being monitored by a significant deployment of law enforcement forces.
"It is truly paradoxical to witness a city brought to a standstill, not allowing those with a legitimate need to organise a conference, while permitting a handful of social centres to have the permanent right to counter-protest outside every rule and every logic, paralysing the city. Anyone who tried to cross the city centre today found themselves stuck in heavy traffic for considerable minutes because of this situation. We will certainly need to intervene decisively once Futuro Nazionale takes the reins of this city and this country," said Enrico Forzese, regional deputy and provincial coordinator of Futuro Nazionale. "The people of Turin and Italians want just that — a hardworking calm — and we must give Italians and the people of Turin back the peace and quiet they need to lead a normal existence," Forzese added on the sidelines of the conference.
