14 Hong Kong civil servants sue colleague over HK$28.9 million Mark Six winnings
Health inspector Ling Chun-ting allegedly refused to distribute HK$33 million payout from HK$1,650 joint ticket pool for September 5 draw
A Hong Kong civil servant has been sued by 14 colleagues for HK$28.9 million (US$3.7 million) in lottery winnings after he allegedly refused to split a winning Mark Six jackpot.
Health inspector Ling Chun-ting allegedly told his colleagues at the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) that they did not deserve a share of the HK$33 million prize on September 5 because they did not buy the tickets, according to a High Court writ seen by the South China Morning Post on Monday.
The 36-year-old, who has since been transferred to a different division in the department, allegedly promised to split the reward out of “good conscience” but failed to do so.
