MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. The opening ceremony of the International Space Games (ISG), an initiative designed to train specialists for key sectors of the rocket and space industry, has taken place in Moscow, a TASS correspondent reports.

The event brings together approximately 250 participants from 10 countries.

“This project is particularly important to us, as it is being implemented under the Personnel for Space federal project, which forms part of the broader Space national project,” said Irina Ganiyeva, Director of the Human Resources Department at Roscosmos. “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our international partners who accepted our invitation and traveled to Russia. You are our strategic partners, and we greatly value that relationship. Your presence here demonstrates that space knows no borders and that Russia is ready to share its scientific and technological expertise.”

The International Space Games are large-scale engineering and educational competitions built around a simulated space mission. Young engineers participating will be tasked with sustaining a hypothetical outpost on a planet within the Solar System. They must manage its energy, food, and oxygen supplies while simultaneously carrying out a scientific research mission.

“It is a great honor to stand before you today. Through your intellect, your ability to work together, and your capacity to change the world, you will help make both the world and our country a better place. In these games, pursuing victory in the traditional sense makes little sense, because everyone is working toward a common goal. Our engineers have devoted tremendous effort to designing challenges that can only be solved through scientific and technological cooperation. This approach is intended to help you learn, through the games, how to explore space together,” said Dmitry Zemtsov, Vice-Rector of HSE University and Executive Secretary of the National Technology Olympiad (NTO) Organizing Committee.

HSE University is the organizer of the International Space Games. The event will be held across several venues, including a testing ground equipped with high-tech modular domes at the Skolkovo Innovation Center, which is supporting the project, and a dedicated Mission Control Center at Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU). The concluding events will take place at HSE University.

The opening ceremony was attended by several prominent guests, including Dmitry Peskov, the President’s Special Representative for Digital and Technological Development and head of the National Technology Initiative (NTI) Platform; Yevgeny Abakumov, Deputy Director General for Science and Strategy at Rosatom; and Natalia Kravchenko, Advisor to the Chair of the Board of the Skolkovo Foundation.
