"I feel embarrassed having to once again renew my solidarity with law enforcement officers, once again victims of organized, senseless and gratuitous violence, bearing the NoTav label. A particularly serious act of violence - over 60 law enforcement officers injured - inadmissible in a democratic country, planned and prepared in the shadow of the Alta Felicità festival and the so-called 'peaceful' NoTav summer march." This was stated by Paolo Foietta, president of the Italian-French Intergovernmental Commission for the Turin-Lyon line.
"For years," he adds, "the summer news from the Susa Valley has been marked by acts of violence, coinciding with the NoTav summer camp and the Alta Felicità festival; events that have now become recurring rituals among the opponents."
"The Susa Valley," says Foietta, "has now become the summer school of the Italian and European antagonist archipelago. Enough with the ambiguities!!! There are no more justifications. Declarations of the mealy-mouthed type such as 'I was there but if I was there I was asleep' are no longer acceptable. Condemning the violent is no longer enough. It is necessary that all 'accomplices' stop offering venues, support and an audience to those who now habitually and endemically practice organized violence against law enforcement officers, against construction site workers and the majority of the valley's population, guilty of considering the Turin-Lyon line an opportunity."
