Russian troops liberate Annopolye community in Kharkov Region over past day — top brass

MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. Russian troops liberated the community of Annopolye in the Kharkov Region over the past 24 hours in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.

"In their operations to expand the outer area of control, Battlegroup North units established control of the settlement of Annopolye in the Kharkov Region in their active advance," the ministry said in a statement.

Before storming Annopolye, Russian forces cleared the sky from enemy attack drones while unmanned systems teams and artillery crews delivered strikes on amassed Ukrainian manpower from a separate motorized infantry brigade, the ministry specified.

After crushing the Ukrainian army’s resistance and gaining their foothold in Annopolye, Battlegroup North forces started to clear buildings, basements and adjacent territory from the remnants of enemy troops, it said.

"Battlegroup North forces are simultaneously advancing in several directions and continue expanding the security belt along the Russian-Ukrainian border in borderline areas of the Sumy and Kharkov Regions. The troops are daily moving forward, edging the enemy out of the state border to ensure the security of civilians," the ministry reported.

Kiev loses 1,510 troops along engagement line in past day – latest figures

The Ukrainian army lost roughly 1,510 troops in battles with Russian forces in all the frontline areas over the past 24 hours, according to the latest data on the special military operation in Ukraine released by Russia’s Defense Ministry.

The latest figures show that the Ukrainian army lost roughly 280 troops and two field artillery guns in the responsibility area of Russia’s Battlegroup North, about 210 troops and a US-made multiple rocket launcher in the responsibility area of the Battlegroup West and over 160 troops and three armored combat vehicles in the responsibility area of the Battlegroup South.

During the last 24-hour period, the Ukrainian army also lost roughly 535 troops and four armored combat vehicles in the responsibility area of Russia’s Battlegroup Center, about 295 troops and an armored combat vehicle in the responsibility area of the Battlegroup East and more than 30 troops and a US-made howitzer in the responsibility area of the Battlegroup Dnepr, the latest figures show.

Russia’s Battlegroup North fighting for six communities in pocket of encirclement in Kharkov area

Russia’s Battlegroup North forces are fighting for the liberation of six communities in the Kharkov Region and tightening the ring of encirclement of Ukrainian troops in that area, the ministry reported.

"Battlegroup North units continue tightening the ring of encirclement in the Kharkov Region and expanding the outer area of control. In the pocket of encirclement, they are fighting for the liberation of the communities of Nikolayevka, Varvarovka, Lukashovo, Reznikovo, Lobanovka and Nefyodovka in the Kharkov Region," the ministry said.

During the last 24-hour period, the Ukrainian army lost roughly 40 troops and a field artillery gun in the pocket of encirclement, it specified.

In addition, Battlegroup North units continue battles for taking control of the settlements of Prikolotnoye and Kotovka in the Kharkov Region, it said.

Russia’s Battlegroup North forces inflicted roughly 280 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed two enemy field artillery guns in its areas of responsibility over the past 24 hours, the ministry reported.

In the Kharkov direction, Battlegroup North units "inflicted losses on manpower and equipment of a mechanized brigade, two assault regiments of the Ukrainian army and a territorial defense brigade in areas near the settlements of Chernoglazovka, Mishchenki, Dergachi, Veliky Burluk, Artyomovka and Novy Burluk in the Kharkov Region," the ministry said.

In the Sumy direction, Battlegroup North units struck formations of two mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian army and a territorial defense brigade in areas near the settlements of Kiyanitsa and Grunovka in the Sumy Region and the city of Sumy, it said.

Overall, the Ukrainian army lost an estimated 280 personnel, 19 motor vehicles, two field artillery guns and three electronic warfare stations in the areas of responsibility of Russia’s Battlegroup North over the past 24 hours, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup West inflicts 210 casualties on Ukrainian army in past day

Russia’s Battlegroup West inflicted roughly 210 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed a US-made multiple rocket launcher in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.

"Battlegroup West units improved their forward positions and inflicted losses on manpower and equipment of two mechanized brigades, an assault brigade of the Ukrainian army and a territorial defense brigade in areas near the settlements Maliyevka and Chervony Oskol in the Kharkov Region, Volchy Yar, Karpovka and Raigorodok in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian army lost an estimated 210 personnel, a British-made Snatch armored combat vehicle, a US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launcher, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, 12 motor vehicles and an electronic warfare station in that frontline area over the past 24 hours, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup South inflicts over 160 casualties on Ukrainian army in past day

Russia’s Battlegroup South inflicted more than 160 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed three enemy armored combat vehicles in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.

"Battlegroup South units gained better lines and positions and inflicted losses on formations of two mechanized brigades, a mountain assault brigade of the Ukrainian army and a territorial defense brigade in areas near the settlements of Krasny Molochar, Belenkoye, Kramatorsk, Gavrilovka, Nikolayevka and Semyonovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian army lost more than 160 personnel, three armored combat vehicles, 34 motor vehicles and a counterbattery radar station in that frontline area over the past 24 hours, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup Center liberates sports complex, stadium in Dobropolye over past day

Russia’s Battlegroup Center forces liberated a sports complex and a stadium in their battles for Dobropolye in the Donetsk People’s Republic over the past 24 hours, the ministry reported.

"In Dobropolye in the Donetsk People’s Republic, assault groups of the 51st Army continued their advance in the town’s central and northern parts. Marine infantry formations seized a sports complex and cleared a stadium and the remaining part of the park zone in their advance in the southwestern direction," the ministry said.

Overall, during the last 24-hour period, Battlegroup Center units liberated 103 buildings and eliminated over 25 Ukrainian troops in Dobropolye, it said.

Russia’s Battlegroup Center inflicted roughly 535 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed four enemy armored combat vehicles in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.

"Battlegroup Center units inflicted losses on manpower and equipment of three mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian army, a marine infantry brigade and two National Guard brigades in areas near the settlements of Stepanovka, Belozerskoye, Sergeyevka, Roganskoye, Novoyavlenka and Kamyshevakha in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian army lost an estimated 535 personnel, four armored combat vehicles, 12 motor vehicles, a field artillery gun and a radar system in the responsibility area of Russia’s Battlegroup Center over the past 24 hours, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup East inflicted roughly 295 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed an enemy armored combat vehicle in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.

"Battlegroup East units continued their advance deep into the enemy’s defenses and inflicted losses on manpower and equipment of two air assault brigades, two assault regiments of the Ukrainian army and a marine infantry brigade in areas near the settlements of Orestopol and Velikomikhailovka in the Dnepropetrovsk Region, Krinovka, Mirovka and Zalivnoye in the Zaporozhye Region," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian army lost an estimated 295 personnel, an armored combat vehicle, nine motor vehicles and two artillery systems in that frontline area over the past 24 hours, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup Dnepr eliminates over 30 Ukrainian troops in past day

Russia’s Battlegroup Dnepr eliminated more than 30 Ukrainian troops and destroyed a US-made howitzer in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.

"Battlegroup Dnepr units gained better lines and positions and inflicted losses on formations of two mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian army in areas near the settlements of Orekhov and Preobrazhenka in the Zaporozhye Region," the ministry said.

"Over 30 Ukrainian military personnel, 20 motor vehicles, a US-made 155mm M777 howitzer and two electronic warfare stations were destroyed," it said.

Russian forces strike Ukrainian missile/artillery, ammo depots over past day

Russian forces struck Ukrainian missile/artillery armament and ammunition depots and enemy deployment sites over the past 24 hours, the ministry reported.

"Operational/tactical aircraft, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops and artillery of the Russian groups of forces struck workshops producing unmanned aerial vehicles and their storage sites, missile/artillery armament and ammunition depots, and also temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 142 locations," the ministry said.

Russian air defenses intercept 1,062 Ukrainian UAVS, seven smart bombs over past day

Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 1,062 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and seven smart bombs over the past 24 hours, the ministry reported.

"Air defense capabilities shot down seven guided aerial bombs, a rocket of the US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system and 1,062 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said.

Russia’s Black Sea Fleet destroys Ukrainian naval drone over past day

Russia’s Black Sea Fleet destroyed a Ukrainian naval drone in Black Sea waters over the past 24 hours, the ministry reported.

"The Black Sea Fleet’s forces destroyed an uncrewed boat of the Ukrainian Navy in Black Sea waters," the ministry said.

Tally of Ukrainian army’s losses

Overall, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 674 Ukrainian combat aircraft, 284 helicopters, 256,490 unmanned aerial vehicles, 672 surface-to-air missile systems, 31,159 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,785 multiple rocket launchers, 36,659 field artillery guns and mortars and 73,965 special military motor vehicles since the start of the special military operation, the ministry reported.
