The set of the new television film dedicated to the life of Alessandro Volta arrives in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The film is directed by Marco Pontecorvo and produced by Publispei - Pubblicità Spettacoli Italiani, with the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission - PromoTurismoFVG.
Filming begins today in Udine (through tomorrow) and will continue until September 22nd across Strassoldo, San Vito al Tagliamento (where the greatest number of shooting days are planned, between the Arrigoni Theatre and Palazzo Altan Rota) and numerous locations throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia. Matteo Martari stars in the role of the inventor, with Stefano Pesce also appearing in the cast as Luigi Volta.
The film tells the personal story of Alessandro Volta from the summer of 1794, the year in which the scientist, engaged in his research on electricity, meets opera singer Marianna Paris, with whom an intense love affair blossoms, long opposed by his brother, Archdeacon Luigi. Volta is called upon by the Austrian administration to face an epoch-making challenge: to transform his studies into an invention capable of generating wealth and progress. His research, however, clashes with the thinking of Bologna-born scientist Luigi Galvani, giving rise to a rivalry destined to divide the scientific world of the era. Volta will invent the electric battery — a discovery that would change the course of history — but his international success will not erase the human cost of his endeavour.
In Udine, filming will take place in the area of the Salita al Castello, the Lippomano Portico, Piazzale del Castello, Piazza Matteotti, the area in front of the Church of San Giacomo, and the interior spaces of Palazzo Antonini Belgrado. After Friuli Venezia Giulia, filming will conclude in Como.
